Children's play park and picnic area

The children's play park is situated in a garden area which is also an excellent venue for picnics. You may bring your own, or you may pre-arrange with our coffee shop to provide you with one.

Cycle trails

Enjoy the fresh west coast air and take a cycle through the Fossil Park. We have a selection of four trails, ranging from 3.5km to 10km, which are of varying degrees of difficulty. They go through a number of different rehabilitated areas in the Fossil Park and they are an excellent opportunity to experience firsthand our unique west coast flora and fauna.

Walking trails

The Restoration Trail is a scenic 3.5km walking trail. You meander along the old mine roads and pass water bodies where a variety of bird species may be seen. An interesting site to look at is the alien biological control research Rooikrans thicket. It is being used for monitoring by the University of Cape Town Plant Protection Unit to assess the success of introduced insects as a form of exotic plant control.
